Battling with yourself?

Hello poetry quiz friends! I’ve been away with a group of students to the Richtersveld National park for an educational experience .This was indeed a blessing in disguise, because it served as a detox from work and the environment.

Splash Poetry Quiz Unravelled

On my latest poetry quiz I wrote about a force constantly pulling one back and forth.I should actually say two forces ( flesh and spirit) pulling the rope ( me). This is what Paul explained in Romans 7 about the inner battle of a person( born out of Christ Jesus).

Thank you for those who took time to read and participated in the quiz.Pedro was spot on with Evidence and Frank right behind him. These are also links to their blogs full of insights from the word of God and also real life issues.

I’m quite sure that this is something we all struggle with, just like Paul (the great apostle ) also explained his struggle between the flesh and the spirit.

I recently became much aware of inner turmoil, as if I am being pulled more and more to the things I do not want to do, as Apostle Paul stated. This is something that could easily lead into self conflict, depression, hopelessness and further away from the primary source , God.

It’s like losing a battle , giving up and losing your grip. It’s a constant pulling hence and forth , trying to move a person from its ground to the other side. It’s about taking a stand or lose some territory!

Back and forth
Back and forth

From whence comes wars and fightings among you?  Do they not come from the lusts that war inside of you?

James 4:1

I feel the force
Pulling me back and forth

Another writer , James, spoke on the same topic and shed some light onto our problem when he asked the rhetoric question?” Do they not come from the lusts that war inside of you.”

Who’s ruling?

May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”(1 Thessalonians 5:23)l

An honest self evaluating answered this question for me.Obviously the one on top!I believe that we struggle with issues of the flesh when our order is reversed. When we start walking in the spirit , we will be able to please God.Walking in the spirit is the metaphor describing the Christian’s way of life.

Pull
My Prayer Assignment for October

Usually I receive a prophetic word before or at the beginning of each month. This month’s word was PULL.Pulling requires some effort, a firm grip and strength from a person and it resolves into progress.

It began with the awareness of the struggle between the spirit and the flesh.I had to take my stand, put on the full armor of God and stand! These are some strategies Holy Spirit released to provide a way out.

1.Deal with the hindrances

Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

Romans 7:20

And keeps directing me
To the things I left behind,
Things of the past
That I do not want to do.

Constant swaying of thoughts,
Of my carnality taking the front seat.

2.Shake it of!

3.Realign and find your rhythm!

Then...
I feel the grip of the Spirit,
My feet hear His instructions
My ear tune
To the rhythm of heaven's beat.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Galatians 2:20

“For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.”

1 John

“For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.”

Galatians 5:17

4.Armor up!

The apostle Paul also spoke about our wrestling and so he put another card on the table in Ephesians 6 as he advise us to take up the full armor of God.One of my kingdom assignments is centered around the Ephesians 6 .It actually started long before I realized that I have to teach our students and colleagues what it is and how to put it on.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

2 Corinthians 10:4-6

5.God is providing a way out

Take your eyes off the temptation and fix it on the One who can help you to overcome!Start looking for the escape route.

Conclusion

I believe that it is possible to live a life of victory because of what Christ did for us and thereby qualified us to be more than conquerors.Even examples from the lives of great bible figures show us that they also struggled and overcame, but not outside the Lord Jesus or on their own strength. King David is one of the greatest examples in biblical history , but each time we found himself submitted to God.

Get a strong grip on the rope the Holy Spirit is releasing and Pull even harder or rather: Be pulled to the other side!
