Finding strength in Waiting

Splash Poetry and Power Punch Collide Reveal

I was standing in the line at the bank together with a few other and a man was doing his ( what seemed to be a never-ending business).A woman started to get irritated and said ,:”I hate the waiting.” And I smiled and replied, ” I don’t think we have a choice. ” She said that this is just one thing she is good at.Meanwhile, I studied my surroundings and the people around me.The inability to wait, shows our impatience ; but most of all: Our Selfishness. Then, selfishness become a crown of selfrighteousness.

Not all waiting seasons/stations are comfortable!

Waiting is the one thing that many people struggle with and because of their impatience disqualify themselves from the coming breakthrough, possibilities, answers or whatever they were standing in the line for .Our waiting seasons and the duration of it differs .

Waiting is to give someone else an opportunity to be heard or to receive!

“Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.”

Psalm 27:14

Waiting requires us to be strong ,patient and courageous

Our hearts need to be strong to stay in the line long enough for our case to be heard or to receive whatever we came for.

In my quizzes I mainly write about the woman of the bible and their experiences of faith.Although there are many of them who also qualified for the theme of Waiting, these two men came to mind.As we read about their waiting for God to answer or rescue, we hear them calling even louder ,pouring out their hearts to Him about their issues .

David was not afraid to pour out his heart and to tell God about his difficulties, stating his case before God.

As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me.You are my help and my deliverer;do not delay, O my God!”

Psalm 40 : 17

And this made me think of a court case where cases are stated and people have to wait for the verdict.Waiting is a process and it requires endurance, perseverance, emotional – and spiritual strength.

Waiting in the Lord renews our strength!

“But those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

Habakkuk was deeply concerned about the moral degeneration and cried out to the Lord.

O LORD, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you “Violence!”and you will not save?

( Habakkuk 1 : 2)

And after all his questions and cries ,when God eventually answered him,it was still – TO WAIT A LITTLE LONGER.

If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.
It will not be delayed.

Habakkuk 2:3

Waiting can also be described as our season of stretching!

When I got up last week , just before the entrance of October; the word :PULL appeared to me .I pondered on it, made a cup of black coffee, sat down and wrote a power punch poem.

Waiting creates a workshop where our muscles of our patience, faith and hope can be stretched to increase our potential and to accelerate us to a next level .It creates a landscape where we can be able to escape from distractions and expand our view, our thinking. It puts us in the workshop of trust.

Are you in any kind of Waiting season ?

Then start reading the Psalms of David : Psalm 40

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.

Read the book of Habakkuk, the praying prophet who kept prompting God for answers with all questions. And be expectant.Look out of your window.Breakthrough is on its way!

Conclusion

Waiting is not always unpleasant though.A couple waiting for the birth of a baby is expectant and joyful. But so many experience waiting periods that seemed never-ending and might lose hope. Personally, I am waiting for something I’ve never spoke about on this blog and I do not speak much about it either. But while writing this post, I put my own area of waiting and how I wait under the magnifying glass.

Thank you so much for your PATIENCE.😁

  1. This microwave generation that we live in really needs this lesson. We are not much for waiting, and patience is lost on many of us. Regardless, God is always on time, it is good to wait on the Lord (Romans 5:1-5).
    God Bless!!!

  2. Eish I hate to be disqualified because of impatience.
    This is a good teaching.
It’s scary and look at Moses having done all to take the children of Israel from Egypt but He failed to enter the promise because of impatience and inability to judge God faithful and Holy in His ways of leading us.
Even the whole generation failed to enter except Caleb and Joshua because they had a different spirit

  3. Such a good post. In our “insta” world, waiting is not a crafted art. I especially appreciated your words that so clearly paint the beauty and benefits of waiting- “Waiting creates a workshop where our muscles of our patience, faith and hope can be stretched to increase our potential and to accelerate us to a next level .It creates a landscape where we can be able to escape from distractions and expand our view, our thinking. It puts us in the workshop of trust.”

  4. Great piece as always Chalvonia and it makes me reflect on my waiting season. There are times when you feel like you are waiting, because someone may be holding up something unnecessarily and it feels like an untimely delay. I suppose whatever the situation, it’s knowing that God is in control and after we have done all that we can do, we stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. ❤️💖
