You know, I never could understood the Song of Solomon and barely read this book, until my eye caught the Shulamite woman!
Well done to Tam from Carebiblestudy who immediately shouted: Solomon’s bride.
I knew the quizzers first response would be Esther! Got you there! This is some interesting journey for me and I’m loving every mile of it.Those watching my walk , experiencing my journey through these quizzes are also Frank , Evidence , Anneta ,Pedro and Cindy .They have wonderful blogs expressing their faith ,inspiration and life.
But let’s jump into the unravelling .
I was reading an article when suddenly I saw the ” the Shulamite woman” and I thought: Could it be the Shunamite? And so I investigated this woman and came across Song of Solomon,a book I never could get a grip of.I honestly have to admit that my thoughts were:it was Solomon’s and his lovers random love poems only to find out it is actually expressing the love of Solomon and of the Shulamite woman for each other.
I could not find much about this woman , because there is little written about her.I did not want to engage into the speculation about her .
Song of Solomon 1
The quiz started with a statement:TAKEN.This statement proves that her desire to find true love is fulfilled.

Songs of Solomon 1:4
Shifting and placement
” and made me take care of the vineyards;…”
From the lanes of the vine
Her brothers made her to take care of the vineyards. The word “lanes ” caught my attention .The dictionary describe a lane as a narrow road in rural areas or a special route between fences. The King James dictionary defines lane as a private passage.
And I wondered why I put in this specific word.I checked out the meaning of the word and I put it into context and came to the following conclusion:
- The Shulamite woman’s way into the palace was divinely orchestrated
- Her life changed from an ordinary rural girl to a princess
- I am not sure how, but she landed up in the palace .
“We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.”
The following line and scripture explained a bit more on how she got into the palace: The king picked her and brought her into his chambers.
Into the chambers of the king
The king has brought me into his chambers.
Song of Solomon 1:4
And so she had to find her way through all the other wives of Solomon looking at her because of her skin color.
Pursuing the eyes of judgment
She spoke up against the gazes of judgement .
Do not look upon me, because I am dark, Because the sun has tanned me.
Song of Solomon 1:6
Amongst the flock
I had the opportunity
graze your young goats
by the tents of the shepherds.
Songs of Solomon 1:8
And he accepted me,
Chose me above the other.
Everyone has the desire to belong and to be find approved , but the journey from desire to approval includes a process.
