The fall (Genesis 3)

How did I came across my latest quizz character ?

I felt prompted to cling on to the issue of HOPE and hope for humanity came to mind and how we first lost it.

So, I chose to write about Eve, because I reckon this is where the need for hope was marked off. I was hesitant when she came to my mind , but I thought of the ordeal with the snake , how God called for Adam ,the accountable one.I thought of how the doors of guilt and disobedience were opened.

And this is where I also find a link to the poem about the woman caught in adultery ; the guilt and shame and also to Hagar.But then I found another link between these poems: The inability to submit!Some woman🧐!

Genesis 3:1

Now, the following lines are referring to her inner thoughts and regret as they had to walk out of the garden of Eden.Actually the poem is set on the idea of the man and woman banned from God’s presence and the great provision.

“So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.“

Genesis 3:23

Ashamed ! I turned and 
release a sigh,
a sigh of guilt and regret.
For my eyes I left  unguarded...

“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.“

Deception

and my heart became a host of deception!
 

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Intimacy

I glimpse at the one next to me
and thought: If only he was there...
there besides me,
If only he did not took his eye of me,

You know, when I write these poems it is from the knowlegde I have inside of me.Afterwards and with the unravelling I turn to reading the passage and link the lines with scripture.So,I was thinking why I wrote:”If only he was there…”

Scripture clearly states that Adam was there:”She also gave some to her husband,who was with her, and he ate it.”Genesis 3:6

It seemed to me as if he wasn’t paying attention or he took his eye of her.After all , he was the accountable one! Don’t get me wrong.I am a woman myself and not making any excuses for the females!

Here comes the blame game!

The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Genesis 3:12-13

Guard your gates

Maybe I would have discerned the strange voice
coming through my ear gate
and maybe my eyes would have recognized
the plan of the enemy.

Deception came through her ear – and eyegates, because she left it unguarded!What a costly price!When deception and lies find its way through these gates, it causes disunity and distrust.

But something inside of me reminded me of Your words:
" increase" , " multiply" and inside of me 
a flame of hope flickers,
For You are no man that shall say and not let come to pass

And I ended this poetry quizz with these promises which brings new hope and keeps the flame of hope burning.
