Introduction
I was busy with a Bullet journal bible study on Colossians 1 and I had this vision of wandering through the streets with a bicycle , admiring and getting a glimpse of its qualities.

This lead to the post , “To the people on Colossae”, a letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the new believers he had did not met.He was put in prison and was informed by a fellow minister and co-worker ,Ephaphroditus.

As I finished my previous post about the streets of Colossae, the ” The curb appeal of the Colossian Church ” jumped out and I ask God what it is all about. The Holy Spirit, who knows the thoughts of God, explained to me that many believers and the majority of churches in the body of Christ have lost its originality and purpose.
The curb appeal of the Colossae church
In this post I want to write about the believer’s curb appeal and especially of the Christian community.
“… we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world just as it has been doing among you …”
Colossians 1:1-8
What stood out about the believers of Colossae was their faith and their love for God’s people. The reports of Ephaphroditus was filled with testimonies of their faith and their eager response to the gospel of Christ.
Curb appeal
Curb appeal can be described as the visual attractiveness of a house as seen by a prospective buyer from the street. In this case , there is a twist on the issue of the definition on curb appeal.People actually have to meet Christ through us when mingling , seeing Him when watching us and hearing Him when we speak.
When a visitor visit a congregation, it is like standing in front of a house , evaluating and experiencing it from the outside. This is what either attracts or chase visitors away.A positive curb appeal reasures a follow-up visit or communication.Curb appeal of a church comes through the impact it has in the lives of visitors and within the community.

“Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.“
1 Corinthians 11:1
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.“
Ephesians 2:6
“Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.“
1 John 2 :6
The aim of good curb appeal is to attract and to make a good impression. The aspect of curb appeal can apply to how we display ourselves at work , in our circle of friends , greeting people as you drive through the streets , a married woman handling her house affairs …and the list can go on!
Uniqueness
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10
Curb appeal is what makes us stand out from the rest.God created each individual with a certain purpose and provided us with a set of skills and qualities to fulfill this purpose.Blending has become common in all ages and circles of life, because of the fear for criticism .
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.“
Psalm 139:14
I believe that purpose is one of the elements that creates a strong personal uniqueness or curb appeal. And the main reason for this, is to attract praise and honor to our God.
Curb appeal addresses the following aspects:
- The view from the street
- The roof
- Square footage
- Location
- The walk way
- The garden/landscaping
- Whether there is a front porch
- Color of the paint
- The front door
- Light fixtures
- The entry
Godly curb appeal includes the following:
“Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables.” (Prov. 24:4)
- A clear walkway and strong leadership
- A warm reception
- Does the members act according to God’s word, especially when not in church.
- Freedom of Holy Spirit
- Self controle
- Are the members in submission to God’s word and to their leaders
- Mutual respect
- The impact of the preaching and the transformation of the word.
- Knowlegde of God
Conclusion
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Phillipians 1:6
Believers are the real estate agents of the church and makes up a big part of curb appeal. One of the key responsibilities of the church is to make a godly impression on outsiders to advertise the kingdom of God so they’d long to seek for it first.

Indeed most of Christians lost their originalilty which is equal to their saltiness.
The bible asks that if salt loses its saltiness what is the use thereof!
