The Colossians Journey
As I study and read through the chapters of Colossians, I became aware of billboards displaying faith, hope, and love. Heavenly Billboards requires us to tap into it by faith to bring what is in heaven into our lives and those around us.
But let’s look into the definition of a billboard.
Billboards are for outside placement with the aim for many people to see hoping that they would respond and tap into the opportunity .
This post aims to explore the opportunities and ideas God has for us through the Living Word, Jesus Christ. It also explains the way God can equip and use us as billboards for those on the outside of His kingdom, how God is more than willing and able to care for His children and to provide through us to the ones in need.
A few revelations of heavenly billboards
1. It changes our thinking
Billboards, however, require us to look up and to change our outlook on life.
”Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth”
I'm utterly amazed
As I realized
Where does my help come from!
Not from the main roads
Where so many dwells
I've become a lone dweller
On roads less traveled.
The angle of my vision
Stretched the perimeters of my eyes,
Your words built a support construction for my eyes
To lean on as it grew weary.
And I rest
As you restore my vision
Of faith, hope, and love!

2. It showcases God’s will for ourselves, our communities, our, cities, those we’re praying for, and its great opportunities. It is connected to the storeroom of God.
”your kingdom come,
you will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.”
3. It informs and brings divine revelation
It might also display information, strategies, or warnings.
4. It stretches our vision
One of the great revelations on billboards is that it affects our vision and brings it to a higher dimension of thinking.
It changes our thinking! It showcases God’s will for us!
This part of the post contains a lot of visuals because it emphasizes the idea of billboards on our journey through scripture.
The life of the Apostle Paul as a billboard to other believers
The life of Paul was an amazing billboard for believers and us today because he had a story to tell. Right from his dramatic meeting with Christ on the Damascus road up to imprisonment and his love for the ministry, Paul’s life reflected some very important messages.
I was amazed at the love and earnestness of the apostle Paul towards the believers in Colossae, even though he did not even meet them personally.
“To God’s holy people in Colossae, the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.”
As I started my bullet journal bible study( as I love to call it) Holy Spirit stopped me right at the beginning. I wasn’t expecting to spend more time than I expected at the greeting, but grace and peace pulled me off to stay awhile! ( More about it in my Colossians 1 Bullet Journal Bible study )
What is most evident in the journey of the Apostle Paul, is his relationship with the believers and co-workers of the gospel. He activates true relationships by grace and peace coming from God through His Son Jesus Christ.
“…the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven…”Colossians 1:5
“…the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world…”
“You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.”
“…bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God…”
“…being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, …” Colossians 1:11
“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,…”
The Colossian’s journey roadsigns became clear as we follow the billboards.
One never knows how opportunities last or when they would pop up. Better be ready and tap into the move of the Holy Spirit!
Our prayers and lives should be evidence of the fruitfulness of the kingdom of God.
Be a blessing!
