Commanding your month

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formles and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Genesis 1:4

Every time I start a new day, a new week, year, or venture I think of the above scripture.

Think about it this way:

  • What is your day or month responding to? Who is instructing your month?
  • The new day or month is waiting to hear the word of God and obey.
  • From formless and empty to filled with life and purpose.
  • And the beauty of all is that the Holy Spirit is waiting, hovering above our month, to bring the spoken word into fulfillment.

The other thought or question that came to mind is: Who is the commander in authority?

I remember how the Holy Spirit started to call me to a new dimension of prayer with declarations and decrees. My husband was still working away from home and I was struggling to cope with home, children, and work. My youngest son was about 4 years during that time and had the strangest habit of waking up at about 2 o’clock in the early mornings asking for something to eat and watching his stories!

I was so annoyed and tired, but I still got up and prepared him something. This especially happened one specific week, 3 nights in a row, and the third time I started to realize that maybe something else could be the reason for this, and then I remembered! The previous week I prayed and asked God to prompt me about my prayer times and all along Holy Spirit used my son to wake me!

When I eventually started to realize this, the Holy Spirit prompted me to write down a few scriptures I knew and declare it over my day.

I once again have to mention that I had a very much” plain Jane” prayer life. Maybe it was due to a lack of knowledge, laziness, ignorance, or insensitivity to the Holy Spirit. I honestly think in my case, all of the above-mentioned counts! I think I’m very hard on myself sometimes …

How scriptural declarations changed my prayer life

  • Helped me to pray around the promises of God
  • It made me grow in faith
  • It helped me to grow in trusting God
  • It changed the rhythm of my prayer life
  • Aligned my prayers to the plans and purposes of God for me and others’ lives.
  • It changes the focus of my prayer as I started to put Him in the center.
  • Declaring the word of God over my life changed my perspective
  • I was able to do an honest self evaluation.

30 Declarations for March

Last year I wrote monthly prayers, but this year I felt prompted to add the prayers with declarations. Last month I engaged in writing 28 Declarations for my family and I thought, “This is some task to take on!”

This month I challenged myself in writing, 30 declarations, and when I was in the middle of it all, I was visited by strange counsel:” It’s too long! Let’s stop here! “But I pressed on and when I finished the 30th one , I still felt like continuing!

I started writing my first 10 and then I experienced the discouragement, but this is where more and more people begin to trust God: when they start to realize their own words will not break the ceiling, but God’s word.

This month we already entered into our second month of Adar. No, I’m not Jewish but I honor the prophetic times of God. I’m setting my trust and my declarations in the basket of joy.

The joy of the Lord is my strength!

A season of double joy

My joy declaration of the first month of Adar will be accompanying me again and reinforcing my March declarations.

What happens after writing your declarations?

  1. Read through and reflect on it
  2. Bring it before the Lord prayerfully
  3. Activate it over your month! How? By praying on it in tongues!
  4. Ask the Holy Spirit to spread out the frequency of this scriptural declaration over you and your loved ones and all areas of your lives.
  5. Visit these pages in your journal once a week or daily

See how the word of God works for you, not against you and direct you through this month, jumping over every hurdle strong.

March Blessing to you all!

Thank you for taking the time to appreciate God’s word and my experiences!

  1. Job 38:12
Have you commanded the morning since your days began and caused the dawn to know its place, So that [light] may get hold of the corners of the earth ..

I also use the revelation you shared our destinies are shaped by words.
And if we are created in the image and likeness of God then God framed the world with words we can also frame our days, months and years through declarations aligned with his promises concerning us.

  2. I love that you used Joy. Not only is it a beautiful word but it is a word that only God can give us. Happiness comes and goes, but Joy is with us each day as we continue to live Christ like with the HolySpirit working in us.
    God Bless.
