Resistance Training

Prayer Journaling in the gym of the Holy Spirit.

Date : 18 June 2021

Last week I started my week like any other – getting out of bed, coffee, and listening to the Holy Spirit. I usually get up at 5 am, so I have all the silence for me and the Lord.I already started off with dedication the 1st week, so I was listening for direction for the new week.

The first thing that came to my mind was: Resistance Training! I obeyed and ask Holy Spirit for further direction and clarity! And what better way to resist, but through the Word of God!

The best way to resist is to submit ourselves to God. The Bible ensured us that if we resist the devil, he will flee from us. Now, we all know that resisting is not one of the easiest things to do. Resisting makes me think of a continuous pull and release situation. You never know when to expect the next force, do you have to go about your day AND be vigilant, watchful…Ready to resist!

How I did resistance training

1. First, I wrote a short prayer of submission by exalting the name of Jesus Christ, as my Saviour and Deliverer, and I presented myself as a living sacrifice before God. I declared that His name is the sound of my deliverance and breakthrough.

2.Then I looked up relatable scriptures on :

  • Resisting
  • Protection of God
  • Overcoming trials
  • Strength
  • My position in the Lord.

I compiled all these scriptures in my journal first.

3. Let the games begin! I prayed these scriptures and activated them over me.

4. I took my journal with me to work and prayed even more during my lunch break and admin periods. And when I came from work ran the last mile…praying, speaking the Word of God.

5. I memorized some scriptures.

6. Fasting

Fasting played a significant role in this process. I could feel how my spirit was strengthened. I did not even experience some weariness at all. All I knew was that something was up! And I trusted the Holy Ghost about this one as I was unaware of what was ahead, what I was preparing for and why I was doing it.

During this whole process, I addressed the distractions and restrict them to operate, trying to slow me down. To keep FOCUS is the key to spiritual resistance.

Why did the Holy Spirit prompt me to undertake spiritual resistance training? I have learned by now that obedience is better than sacrifice! Even if you do not have a clue about what is awaiting you, you just obey!

More about my experience in another post!

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
