Weekend Journaling

For some of us, weekends are our escape from the deadlines of work, difficult clients, and traffic. In my case, very busy learners demanding all my attention! And if that is not enough, a working mom must return to her children and duties.

I’ve been stalling this post for quite some time now because I experienced some mixed emotions about it.

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

John 3:8

Those who are born again ( John 3 ) are led by the Spirit of God and therefore cannot rely on their own understanding and wisdom. Everything we are and have comes from God through Jesus Christ. I cannot determine how my weekends should be, God does. He calls me whenever He needs me to pray, intercede or give advice.

Obedience = Reward

Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

Deuteronomy 5:33

Whenever God calls, I should obey the call. Saturdays are the only day for me to stay in bed a little longer, but this cannot be a habit or treat for me, especially in times of warfare.

Testimony of a weekend experience

About a week ago, the Holy Spirit woke me during the early hours of Saturday. I got up, made myself a cup of black coffee – anoint and clothe myself with the armor of God. Then I went into warfare prayer for about an hour. After that, I continued with my usual morning routine.

About 6’oclock my 9-year-old son got up feeling nauseous and after that, my husband also complained about the same symptoms. We thought it could have been something they ate. I anointed them and pray, canceling any kind of attack, claiming their bodies to be healed through the stripes of Jesus and to be the temples of God.

A half an hour later I started to experience the same symptoms and I immediately resisted it by anointing myself and praying, tapping into the benefits that God has for me. I went into prayer and intense warfare for at least an hour and while I was still in prayer I received deliverance from this evil attack. That night we slept and experience the peace of our God.

But in that coming day no weapon turned against ME will succeed. I will silence every voice raised up to accuse ME. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me. I, the LORD, have spoken!

Isaiah 54:7

Take some time to refresh

My initial angle for this post was to write about a time to refresh during the weekend, gaining a new perspective, a time to receive guidance and rest.YES, some weekends I experience rest and lots of ideas to blog, but other times I literally spent my whole weekend in warfare.

I set apart time for:

  • Seeking God’s face for direction
  • Excercise
  • New ideas
  • Enrichment
  • Family

Keeping a balance is an important aspect to be alert of, but a true child of God knows that balance is having Jesus as the center of our lives and obeying the word of God.

Conclusion

Our spiritual weekend chores or refreshment will differ from each other, depending on the direction of the Holy Spirit who knows the will of God. Good discernment will be applicable to know warfare weekend from recharge weekend.
