What difficulties to expect  when prayer journaling

Part 1

I received amazing grace and fulfillment through journaling. It tinkle’s my prayer life, develops my faith and relationship with Christ! It is sensational, inspiring, and very motivational.

Prayer journaling maps out my prayer strategy and gives me, who is a visual learner, a better understanding and direction of the Holy Spirits’ guidance and intention. But I have to be honest, at certain times you will experience attacks on your journaling journey.

Our Father in Heaven requires our total commitment, not just a contribution.

Howard W.Hunter

According to the dictionary, a commitment is a quality of being dedicated to a course or activity / otherwise a promise or firm decision.

This is the area in which many struggle and even fail whether it is to commit to partner, job requirements, fitness, or health. If we are not committed, characteristics like half-heartedness and double-mindedness crossed my mind! With prayer journaling, I encountered growth in my commitment to God. Strangely, my prayer journal keeps me accountable to prayer and my faith walk in Christ.

The character of commitment

What does the bible says about commitment ?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

Matthew 22:37

Anything that is dedicated to God will be attacked, but commitment makes it last.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrew 11:6

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Proverbs 16:3

Not committed?

“Never stop praying, especially for others. Always pray by the power of the Spirit. Stay alert and keep praying for God’s people. Pray that I will be given the message to speak and that I may fearlessly explain the mystery about the good news.”

Ephesians 6:18-19

Apostle Paul believed that all believers should be devoted to prayer and he constantly reminded them in letters to pray. It is evident from his successful ministry that prayer was an integral part of his faith walk.

This is also the area of major attacks! And yet it is the first step in journaling: to dedicate your prayer journal to God. It was actually one of the first attacks I discerned and experienced when the Holy Spirit warned me through a doodle drawing of feet in a journal entry. Not being committed to prayer, can cause unwillingness of dedication in other areas of our lives. If I’m not a dedicated prayer warrior, I will not be a dedicated tither. It is a great deal about commitment!

And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness.

And yet…Commitment can usher our relationship with people and with God in a whole new direction. The relationship builds on commitment builds up to such a level where you do not need to make your needs known because your partner knows. God knows our every need and with a commitment from our side, the deal is sealed!

God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?

Numbers 23:19
