How journaling can ignite your prayer altar

Prayer is the most important channel to communicate with God, but it is also the most common area of attack. If our prayer life stops or weakens, our lives and the lives of our loved ones are an open field without walls.Prayer is our lifeline! This is critical! Our prayer altar becomes our watchtower where we watch out for warning and wait for the return of our prodigal son.

Faith flows through our hearts, minds, our words, eventually, our actions and are activated through prayer.

Journaling has many other benefits.

  • Improve your writing.
  • Journaling helps you to train your writing skills
  • Set and achieve your goals
  • Enhances your memory
  • Record special times
  • Relieve stress
  • Allow yourself to self-reflect
  • Inspire creativity.

Prayer journaling has more or less the same benefits but it’s much more satisfying and rewarding than ordinary journaling because it a platform or altar we build to speak to our Father , to listen, to wait on Him and to receive.

It nourishes my soul and spirit with early morning prayer and continued meditation throughout my day.Ordinary journaling touches the surface of soul ,but prayer journaling penetrates to my spirit and bring separation between the soul and spirit of men.THIS makes it possible for a believer to serve God joyfully and in the strength of God.

Prayer journaling requires intrinsic factors:

  • Praying scripture
  • Discerning the voice of the Holy Spirit
  • To be watchful
  • Listening to God and to obey
  • Taking action
  • Consistency
  • Commitment
  • Discipline
  • Obedience
  • Patience = Waiting on the Lord

Once these basics are established in a prayer journaling routine, a channel of unlimited access, blessing , ideas and favor starts to flow through this channel into our lives.

Creating scripture prayer entries

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword,it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Hebrew 4:12

To pray the words of God back to Him reminds Him of His promises and it becomes powerful decrees from the mouths of the sons and daughters of God. Scripture prayers set our focus on the word of God and help us to grow in faith.

Engaging with the Holy Spirit

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

John 14:16-17

We are so fortunate to have God’s Spirit inside of us to guide us through storms and challenges. When we pray we start to engage with Him and trust Him to guide and strengthen us. As a teacher, I encourage my learners to get involved in my lessons by commenting and asking questions. Prayer is not a one-man show! I love to ask questions about aspects I’m uncertain about or topics I want to understand better.

Developing a prayer strategy

Through prayer journaling, we see the patterns of new areas of development, concerns of God, or attacks and plan an effective war strategy.

Every one of us is unique and is being given unique weapons and strategies by the Spirit of God to battle against the attacks of the enemy. We just need to find those weapons through prayer to dismantle the schemes of our enemy.

Start your journey today and reap the generous amount of God’s grace!
