For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
What do you do when you’re down and out? Then you get a chance to get on your feet again and still standing in front of defeat, looking it right in the eye. How do you react? What will your response be?

I chose to fight with a different spirit. I chose right then to war in the name of Jesus. I look back and remember how journaling changes into a powerful weapon in my hand when I was at a very low point in my life. All I know is that I clutched my hands on it because I am holding on to a piece of heaven. As I am about to carry on with season 2 of prayer journaling, it is necessary to make a synopsis of valuable strategies and teachings from the Holy Spirit.
Valuable information to effective prayer journaling
1.The Holy Spirit
Asking for guidance and acknowledging the Holy Spirit as our teacher is the first most important step in building this prayer altar.
Important Questions to ask about journaling

- What should the cover of my journal be?
- What schedule must I follow?
- What issues are on the heart of God?
- What scriptures must I include?
- What images are suitable for my post?
- What images should I include in my doodles?
- What should the outline of my entries be like?
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 24:26
The Holy Spirit is our teacher and very serious about equipping us with the right knowledge and weapons for the advancement of the kingdom of God. Whether we do prayer journaling, doodling, Bible study, living out our profession, writing a book, or anything else that is valuable to the kingdom of God, we should be mindful of the voice of the Holy Spirit.
2.Be watchful and obedient
Negligence and disobedience can result in great damage and challenges in our own lives and those around us.
When doing a journal entry, one should be taking note of every detail, even the smallest ones.
3.Prayer vocabulary
Any language teacher put great emphasis on vocabulary, so why not our Helper, the Holy Spirit. As we continue prayer journaling we must be mindful of our words and how our vocabulary grows. The Holy Spirit adds unique words to our spirit vocabulary.
4.Speaking in tongues!
I always finish my prayers by praying in tongues, activating my prayers, and fireproofing them so it cannot be hijacked by the enemy.
5.Consecrate it unto God
Prayer journaling is a ministry of prayer and an altar we built for the Lord to seek His face for answers about our own lives, others ,communities , the body of Christ, our cities, our countries and for the world. With a pure heart, we devote our journal, all the resources we use and it’s content to God .
This gives the Holy Spirit a legal right to counsel us.
6.Engage with the Holy Spirit
An effective way to engage with the Holy Spirit is to ask questions. I have a section in my journal called curious corner where I write down all my curiosity?
7.Start your week or month with a dedication
Writing a dedication was the very first entry I made not really knowing what I was doing. Later it became a weekly entry to start my week with. When writing a dedication I’m giving God permission to every territory of my week in this medication.
8.The armor of God(Ephesians 6)
Dress for the occasion!Very important!
9.Begin and End with fasting
Fasting detoxes our bodies and spirit and prepares our spirit for new strategies and fresh downloads. I started my journal with a 5-day fast. After the week of fasting, I experienced ideas and strategies suddenly streaming in. I made fasting a weekly discipline ( one day).
10 . Patterns of the Holy Spirit

We must carefully watch our entries and decipher the codes, patterns, and schedules the Holy Spirit reveals to us in our journals. I developed a habit of turning to my previous week’s entries to track a pattern.
Conclusion
I have sown many seeds in my prayer journal. I’m not exactly closing this season but still waiting to see my seeds grow until the full potential is reached. If you want to reach your top, ask God to grant you an effective weapon. If this weapon is prayer journaling, just do it and experience great breakthroughs and revelations.
