The importance of being rooted

In life, we have learned by now that nothing comes for free. Sometimes we have to battle in prayer, wait upon the Lord until the reddish light of our breakthrough appears. We have to choose our pedestal, if not rooted already, and choose the weapons to wage war through prayer.

Jeremiah 29

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

1. We learn to live a purposeful life, trusting God for every step of our way, seeking His guidance in our life challenges.
2. To be rooted enables us to be constantly nourished and spiritually hydrated.
3. We learn to stand firmly and cannot be whacked by the storms raging in our lives sometimes. Yes, we may lose some leaves, but leaves grow back.
4. When we are firmly rooted in His word, we cannot be controlled or derailed by lies and deception.
5. We will be able to be fruitful in the orchard of God.
6. Being rooted in Christ enables us to experience change positively during the different seasons of our lives.
7. It keeps us in fervent prayer, rooted in faith, and waiting for our breakthrough.

Colossians 2:6-7

As you, therefore, have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

The hidden power of God: Equipped

When David was summoned
to the battlefield
by his father, 
he was already 
equipped for the 
battle while 
he was shepherding 
the sheep of his father.

When David approached Goliath, he was surprised and flooded him with mockery, because he was looking at his outward appearance and size. This could have easily stripped David of his courage, but because of faith in God, he was bold enough to stand before the giant. Goliath could not see that He who was in David is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John4:4)

1 Samuel 17

³⁴ I work as a shepherd for my father. Whenever a lion or a bear has come and attacked one of my lambs, ³⁵ I have gone after it and struck it down to rescue the lamb from the predator’s mouth; if it turned to attack me, I would take it by the chin, beat it, and kill it. 

After meditating on this passage in scripture, these questions prompted me to meditate upon Davids’s gameplan in overcoming the giant, Goliath the antagonist in his new season.

1Samuel :49

And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a , and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the  sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

1.Why did David choose to fight with a sling and a few rocks?

The skill that David used was an ancient skill his people use in warfare and was not being practised anymore.

2.Why 5 rocks?

David was operating in God’s s grace, going into the battle prepared.

3.Where did he find the rocks?

He handpicked the stones from the water. These stones were smooth to move swiftly through the air.

Fact is:

Our faith in God needs to be tested to grow, for us to become spiritually stronger. It needs to be challenged so we reach the next level of grace.It is possible to live victoriously because we are more than a conqueror through Christ.
